830T and 860T has factory fitted electronic thermostat and can be used with a CS-7 wall-mounted controller.  The thermostat set-point can be adjusted by means of a knob located on front panel

830 and 860 can be controlled by a wall-mounted CS-7 controller and/or a RST-TP tamperproof thermostat 

Electrical Connections 

2 rear mounted terminal enclosures provided (one for electrical supply and one for connection to remote-mounted control devices).

Links can be removed to reduce heater output (3kW to 2kW and 6kW to 4kW)

How it Works

The 800 series of fan assisted heaters is designed to perform two functions.

When mounted to provide vertical air discharge, the heaters are mounted over doorways to offset the heat loss associated with frequently opening doors and to provide a warm welcome in commercial premises.

 

 

800 Series as space heater

When mounted to provide angled discharge the heaters are used as general space heaters in a wide variety of commercial premises.

 

 

The powerful tangential fan draws in air from the space through the louvres on the front face of the heater and over the heating element before being discharged through the outlet grille.  Basic control is provided by an on/off switch.   More sophisticated control can be achieved by using external control options.

A CS-7 controller offers on/off/high heat/low heat/fan only settings while temperature control can be provided by our wall-mounted RST-TP tamperproof thermostat. When required a heater can be controlled by both CS-7 controller and RST-TP thermostat.  As an alternative you can select the 830T or 860T which are supplied with a factory fitted electronic thermostat.  The set-point of the built-in thermostat can be adjusted by the easily accessible knob on the heater itself.

Controls

There are three control options.  In all instances the control devices are connected to a convenient terminal enclosure mounted on the rear of the heater.  For multi-heater installations we recommend System X

The CS-7 controller should be wall-mounted in a convenient location and provides the following settings:

  • On
  • Off
  • Low heat
  • High heat
  • Fan only

The CS-7 controller can be used with all four heaters in the 800 series.

The RST-TP wall-mounted 20A thermostat will provide accurate temperature control for the 830 (3kW) and 860 (6kW) heaters.   The 860 (6kW) heater has a built-in relay allowing it to be controlled by a 20A thermostat.  Remote thermostatic control is not suitable for use with the 830T or 860T which are supplied with a built-in thermostat.

 

 

The RST-TP’s tamperproof design prevents casual adjustment of the temperature setting.

This combination of control devices provides both manual and accurate thermostatic control. 

The CS-7 controller should be wall-mounted in a convenient location and provides the following settings:

The RST-TP wall-mounted thermostat will provide accurate temperature control for the 830 (3kW) and 860T (6kW) heaters.  It can be connected directly to the CS-7 controller which in turn is connected to the terminal enclosure on the rear of the heater.

 

This combination is not suitable for use with the 830T and 860T which are supplied with a built-in thermostat.

 

The RST-TP’s tamperproof design prevents casual adjustment of the temperature setting.

The 800 series can be used for two distinctly different applications: as an overdoor heater or as a general space heater.

Overdoor Heaters

Step One – Select length and output

Select the correct length of heater to suit the door width.  The 3kW models are designed for installation over a single door whilst the 6kW models are designed for installation over a double door. 

We do not recommend that 830T or 860T are used as overdoor heaters above external doors as the built-in thermostat can be unnecessarily activated when the door is opened.

Step Two – Select control method

800 series heaters are available with and without a built-in electronic thermostat.  Generally overdoor heaters are selected without a built-in thermostat although this feature can be useful to prevent excessively high air temperature when the heater is installed in a confined space such as the area between two sets of doors.

Space Heating

In simple terms the output of the 800 series heater or heaters must be greater than the heat losses from the building during periods of cold weather.  A small amount of heat is lost through the walls, ceilings and floors with more significant losses through windows and doors.

The estimated heat loss figure is the absolute minimum kW output that you should consider installing.  We would suggest adding approximately 50% to this figure to allow for an acceptable warm up time in cold conditions as well as making allowances for exceptional weather conditions and possible errors in the original data used in the estimate.

Having established the minimum kW output required, select the minimum number of heaters needed to meet the kW requirement.
