Radiant ceiling panels
Application
RP radiant panels are specifically sized for use in a 600 x 600 or 1200 x 600 modular ceiling system. Alternatively they can be fixed to a conventional ceiling using the brackets provided. When installed in a suspended ceiling they are virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding ceiling tiles.
Widely used in offices, schools, care homes and hospitals, RP panels can serve as a complete heating system or to boost temperature in specific areas such as a reception desk. When an even distribution of heat is required, ensure that the distance between the panels is not greater than the distance between the cassettes and the floor level. The panels are suitable for mounting heights from 2.4m to 3.5m.
The RPEX is ATEX approved for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas. It is stamped T3 and can therefore be used in areas designated T1, T2 or T3 (care must be taken to ensure the surrounding air temperature does not exceed 30°C).
Energy saving features
- Gentle radiant effect means that the 'experienced temperature' is a few degrees warmer than the actual air temperature. Operating costs are correspondingly lower.
- The temperature gradient from floor to ceiling is very slight. Typically the air temperature will increase 0.3°C per metre. This figure compares with a typical 2.5°C per metre for fan assisted heaters.
Features common to all models
- High level mounting allows flexible use of floors and walls.
- Ideally suited to 600 x 600 or 1200 x 600 suspended ceilings but with brackets for mounting to a conventional ceiling if required.
- Textured white heat emitting surface maximises radiant efficiency and gives an appearance similar to a standard ceiling tile.
- Fully enclosed in a steel case
- Ingress protection to IP44
- 1m pre-wired cable
- As a radiant system does not rely on air movement, it thus avoids the noise and draughts associated with fan assisted systems.
RPEX - Specific features
- ATEX certified EExe II T3
- Ingress protection to IP65

Control options
Standard models
- Self contained wall mounted proportional controller will maintain the required air temperature by automtically adjusting the output froma heater or a group of heaters between 0 and 100%. Capable of controlling a single phase load of up to 16 amps (3.6kW 230V). Ref. MC-16
RPEX
- ATEX certified wall mounted thermostat directly controlling single phase loads up to 16 amps. Larger loads and three phase loads can be controlled via a suitably rated contactor. When controlling heaters installed in a hazardous area it is common practice to locate the contactor in a safe area. In this way the cost of an EEXd enclosure to house the contactor is avoided.
