Advantages of Radiant Cassettes
Radiant cassettes offer several advantages over traditional convection based heating systems.
- High level mounting allows flexible use of space
- Gentle radiant effect means that the ‘experienced temperature’ is somewhat warmer than the actual air temperature operating costs are correspondingly lower.
- The temperature gradient is very slight which means that the temperature at floor level is virtually the same as at ceiling level.
- Radiant heating systems do not reply on air movement and thus avoid the draughts and noise associated with convection based systems.

Heavy duty radiant cassettes
Application
TVH heavy duty radiant cassettes are an ideal method of providing space heating in areas with high ceilings such as factories, warehouses, terminal buildings and shopping centres. They are generally ceiling mounted but can be suspended from drop-rods or chains. The cassettes can be mounted at heights between 5m and 20m.
When an even distribution of heat is required, ensure that the distance between the cassettes is not greater than the distance between the cassettes and floor level. Radiant cassettes are designed to raise the air temperature in a confined space. They are not ideal for use as `spot` heaters.
Energy saving features
- Radiant effect means that the 'experienced temperature' is a few degrees warmer than the actual air temperature. Operating costs are correspondingly lower
- The temperature gradient from floor to ceiling is very slight. Typcially the air temperature will increase 0.3°C per metre. This figure compares with a typical 2.5°C per metre for fan assisted heaters.
Other features
- High level mounting allows flexible use of floors and walls
- Brackets for ceiling mounting supplied as standard
- 1m pre-wired silicone cable
- Black coated steel heat emitter
- Robust electro-galvanised steel case
- Ingress protection to IP54
- A radiant heating system does not rely on air movement and thus avoids the noise and draughts associated with fan assisted systems

Control options
- Thyristor control panel with remote black bulb sensor supplied as standard. The control panel will ensure that a group of cassettes delivers the exact percentage of its total output needed to maintain the required air temperature. There are three panels in the range; the largest switching loads up to 80kW. Ref. TP
