ATEX Approved EExd Convector Heaters

Application

The unique compact design of the XB range makes it the ideal choice for providing heat in hazardous area installations where space is at a premium.  These will include workshops and storage areas where potentially explosive gasses may be present.

All heaters in the XB range are suitable for installation in Zone 1 and Zone 2 areas and for Gas Groups IIA, IIB and IIC.

The range includes heaters stamped T3 and heaters stamped T4.  Heaters stamped T3 can be installed in areas designated T1, T2 or T3.  Heaters stamped T4 can be installed in areas designated T1, T2, T3 or T4.

Control options

• Built-in externally adjustable thermostat directly switching all heaters in the XB range including three phase models  (add suffix ‘T’)
• ATEX certified wall mounted thermostat directly controlling single phase loads up to 16 amps.  Larger loads and three phase loads can be controlled via a suitably rated contactor.  When controlling heaters installed in a hazardous area it is common practice to locate  the contactor in a safe area.  In this way the cost of an EExd enclosure to house the contactor is avoided.   Ref.
