The Project
We were approached by Medical storage facility to provide heating for a large warehouse, measuring 25m x 57m with an 8m ceiling height. Their aim was to maintain a comfortable 18°C during working hours, with frost protection outside of these times.
Heating a space of this size efficiently required careful planning, so we carried out detailed heat loss calculations, taking into account the building’s dimensions, insulation levels and usage patterns to determine the most suitable solution.

Project Summary
The final system design included:
- 4 x OUH3-40 industrial electric fan heaters (40kW output)
- 4 x DSU3-45 destratification units
- 1 x OUH3-DT 7-day programmable thermostat controller
Each heater operates with a built-in thermostat, allowing zoned temperature control across the warehouse. The central controller provides 7-day scheduling, improving energy efficiency by matching heating output to occupancy.
A fan-only mode is also included, allowing the system to circulate air during warmer months without heat output. The destratification units operate automatically via integrated thermostats, activating only when warm air builds at high level. This ensures heat is redistributed effectively without manual intervention.
The Specification
Due to the scale of the space, we specified high-capacity industrial electric fan heaters. The selected units deliver 40kW each, allowing the system to achieve the required temperature using fewer heaters, simplifying installation and reducing overall system cost.
To improve efficiency, destratification fans were included. In tall buildings, warm air naturally rises and collects at roof level. These ceiling-mounted units push that heat back down to occupied level, improving temperature consistency and reducing wasted energy. In the right conditions, this can reduce heating energy consumption by up to 30%.
The Units Specified
DSU (destratification units) and OUH (industrial fan heaters) work well together to create efficient heating in large spaces. OUHs generate and distribute warm air quickly, while DSUs push rising heat back down to floor level, preventing energy waste. This combination improves comfort, speeds up heating, and can significantly reduce running costs, especially in buildings with high ceilings.
A Successful Installation
The system was installed successfully and delivered the required temperature control across the warehouse. Following installation, the client requested a further site visit to assess additional areas for heating, based on the performance of the initial system.
This installation ensures heat is redistributed effectively through the facility without manual intervention.
